Removal of dissolved oxygen from beverages for oxidation stability

Beverages are typically stabilised against chemical and bacterial oxidation by the addition of preservatives such as sulphur dioxide or sodium metabisulfite. However, these are known to cause allergic reactions in some people, particularly those suffering from asthma. As for boiler feed water treatment PCR allows a suitable scavenger to be contained downstream of the membrane, thereby avoiding direct contact with the beverage.
